Warranty & Return Policy

CD Rom, Inc products are warranted against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship under normal use for one (1) year, from the date of purchase on items we manufacture and sell. For items we distribute, the warranty is with the manufacturer and is a minimum warranty of one year. After one year from the date of delivery, any defective parts will be billed at the cost of the parts and any labor will be billed at the then going rate for labor. CD Rom, Inc offers a 30 day 100% refund, minus freight, on unopened and unused items. Items that have been used or opened are subject to a 20% restocking fee during this 30 day period. Items will not be considered for refunds after 30 days.  Custom built products or special order products are non-refundable.  All returned items must be labeled on the outside of the box by an RMA number which must be requested with our service department prior to returning an item. No items will be considered for refunds without this RMA number. The customer is responsible for freight charges on returned items. This warranty does not cover consumable items such as cutters, abrasive pads, and dust bags within the DX product line.

EXCEPT AS PROVIDED HEREIN, CD ROM, INC. MAKES NO EXPRESS WARRANTIES AND ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND ALL WARRANTIES ARE LIMITED IN DURATION OF THE WRITTEN LIMITED WARRANTIES CONTAINED HEREIN. EXCEPT AS PROVIDED HEREIN, CD ROM, INC. SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY TO ANY PERSON OR ENTITY WITH RESPECT TO ANY LIABILITY, LOSS OR DAMAGE CAUSED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY BY USE OR PERFORMANCE OF THE PRODUCT OR ARISING OUT OF ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM LOST OR CORRUPTED DATA, INCONVENIENCE, LOSS OF TIME, PROPERTY, REVENUE, OR PROFIT OR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, EVEN IF CD ROM, INC. HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Some states do not allow the limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. In the event of a product defect during the warranty period, obtain return approval from CD Rom, Inc. prior to product return. CD Rom, Inc. will, at its option, unless otherwise provided by law: (a) correct the defect by product repair without charge for parts or labor; (b) replace the product with one of the same or similar design. All replaced parts and products, and products on which a refund is made, become the property of CD Rom, Inc. New or reconditioned products may be used in the performance of warranty service. Repaired or replaced products are warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period. You will be charged for repair or replacement of the product made after the expiration of the warranty period. This warranty does not cover: (a) damage or failure caused by or attributable to acts of God, abuse, accident, misuse, improper or abnormal usage, failure to follow instructions, improper installation or maintenance, alteration, lightning or other incidence of excess voltage or current; (b) any repairs other than those provided by CD Rom, Inc. or its authorized representatives; (c) consumables such as cutters, abrasive pads, or dust bags; (d) cosmetic damage; (e) transportation, shipping or insurance costs; or (f) costs of product removal, installation, set-up service adjustment or reinstallation.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Terms are subject to change at any time. See company policies at www.cdrominc.com for latest warranty information. Optional extended warranty coverage for select products is available for purchase from CD Rom, Inc.

Extended warranty plans are available which will cover both parts and labor costs for the warranty period.  Special service and maintenance contracts are optional and offered upon request. A sample maintenance contract is:

“(Optional) Maintenance Contract: This is no longer a required part of this product sale. A moderately competent computer technician with good computer, and network skills, can maintain this equipment. Also, there are national technical service bureaus that can also act as independent third party support for this equipment. If CD Rom, Inc. were to provide direct maintenance support it would be based on a flat fee of $1500.00 per incidence, plus cost of parts. In year one, because of the full warranty, there would be zero costs for parts. This option requires a $5,000.00 non-refundable deposit at time of purchase to be credited against future activity.”

Prior to returning any product to CD Rom, Inc., call Technical Support at 952-832-5424 to start the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process. Technical Support will try to solve the problem(s).  If this is not possible, Technical Support will authorize a return.  Warranty returned items will be repaired or replaced at CD Rom’s discretion.  In the event a special order item is ordered, and the optional service contract is declined, it is presumed that a competent technician is on site at the customer’s point of operation and that he or she is the first line of technical support. That customer’s employee can liaise with a CD Rom, Inc. employee, or contractor, M-F, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at no charge for complete technical support for a period of one year. In the event that a defective element or component is determined to exist during this one year period, an RMA sheet will be faxed to the customer. Complete the RMA sheet and include it in the package along with a copy of the invoice. Write the RMA number in several places on the outside of the package. If there is no RMA number on the package the shipment will be refused. The shipper will pay shipping charges to CD Rom, INC. You must prepay the freight charges to return items to CD Rom, Inc. CD Rom, Inc. will pay the freight charges to return your item to you for domestic UPS ground shipping. Return shipping charges outside the USA will only be paid by CD Rom, Inc. at our discretion and with prior approval. Special order items are not returnable for credit to CD Rom, Inc. A special order item will be installed, tested and confirmed operational by an employee or contractor of CD Rom, Inc., as an option from the customer, and a representative of the customer, individual or Government agency who has purchased products from CD Rom, Inc.

Manufacturer’s Warranty: Should a defective unit, or sub-assembly be detected, the defective unit will be repaired and returned to the customer within 4-6 weeks from date of delivery to CD Rom, Inc. In the case of a multi part duplicator system, CD Rom, Inc. usually provides for a “hot-swap” of any sub-assembly within 1 – 2 workdays of such an occurrence at no cost to the customer except freight. Manufacturer’s warranty is good for 1 year for most items sold by CD Rom, Inc, and in some case, like hard disk drives, may be up to three years. Opened software will not be accepted for credit or replacement under any circumstances by agreement with the software manufacturer.
