CD ROM, Inc. Receives DoD Approval on DX-CD™ Manual CD Destruction Device

CD ROM, Inc. (the Company) announced today that they have received DoD approval on their new product, the DX-CD™ (manual version), which safely destroys CDs (Compact Discs) containing classified and sensitive information.  The DoD has approved the manual unit for safe routine destruction of classified data on CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW (or CD-E) discs.  This is the first and only manual/field portable CD destruction device to receive DoD approval. The Company has previously received DoD approval on its electrically powered office unit for all three types of CD media.  Two US patents now cover the DX-CD product line.

Mr. Duane Marquis, Vice President of Marketing, Government Security Products, said of the DoD approval:  “This most recent approval puts CD ROM, Inc. in the undisputed lead in providing secure methods to destroy CDs containing classified and sensitive data in an environmentally safe manner.  The design and development of this product has been accomplished through careful consideration of the needs of those units that operate in the field without reliable electricity.  This product answers that critical destruction need.”

The DX-CD product line is available in both an electric model for routine use in an office environment, and the newer manual unit for field portable and emergency operations.  The product is sold either commercially or with the General Services Administration Contract GSA Schedule GS-35F-0450J.  The electric unit is under $10,000.00 while the manual unit is under $2,500.00 to Government agencies.  Commercial pricing is available on the companies’ web site.

CD ROM, Inc. is the oldest privately held CD-ROM company in the industry and one of the first CD-ROM companies in the 16 year history of CD-ROM technology. The Company offers hundreds of optical products through its Web site and produces unique and leading edge technologies in its development company CD ROM-USA, Inc.  USA is a holder of several other patented products and is also a privately held Colorado Corporation.
